Ann Nelson, 1960 in Stockholm geboren und seit 1988 in Zürich lebend, widmet ihre künstlerische Arbeit seit Längerem der malerischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Landschaft. Reproduktionen von Landschaftsgemälden des 18. und 19. Jahrhunderts (John Constable, William Turner u. a.) oder eigenes Fotomaterial zum gleichen Thema dienen der Künstlerin als Vorlage für ihre Malerei. Obwohl die Orientierung an klassischen Vorbildern in ihren Landschaften spürbar ist, findet Ann Nelson zu einer absolut eigenständigen und zeitgenössischen Ausdrucksweise.
