    Land use impacts on climate
    Integrated river basin management
Modeling the Dynamics and Consequences of Land System Change
    • The book presents a groundbreaking three-tier architecture for modeling land system changes, detailing its principles, modules, and applications. This approach enables precise predictions of regional land use structures, pixel-level simulations, and assessments of land system change consequences. The simulation outcomes are instrumental for land use planning, urban and regional development, environmental protection, and informed decision-making regarding land management and resource optimization.

Establishing multi-scale optimal water allocation modes which takes the enhancement of utilization efficiency as core is a research hotspot for the international water resources management of river basins. This book aims to introduce how to compile the first set of county-level IO tables involving resources and environment accounts with integrated datasets which contains the spatio-temporal data of water and land resources, ecology and social economy in the river basin and to construct an integrated Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model with resources and environment accounts embedded, which can be used to quantitatively depict the key process parameters of the water-ecology-social economy coupling system. Thus, this book can provide decision support for integrated river basin management, and scientific support for the sustainable development of social economy, eco-environment and water resources.

This book introduces a key issue in research on the climatic impact of land cover and land use changes via terrestrial biogeophysical processes. The parameterization of surface processes and a systematic approach to modeling the climatic impacts of land use change are discussed respectively, and can be used to improve parameterization schemes for climate numerical models and to provide a systematic method, thus offering more scientific and enhanced support for research on the climatic effects of land use/cover change. Further, based on predictions and scenario analyses of land use changes in typical zones, the climatic impact of various types of changes in different areas can be simulated through climatic numerical modeling, the simulation results are suitable for use in climate mitigation, land use planning, urban development planning, etc. Thus, the book is intended for researchers and professionals working in the area of meteorology systems, climatic numerical modeling, climate change, and land use/cover change, as well as decision makers in meteorology and land use planning. Professor Xiangzheng Deng is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
