The Tatra Mountains, the highest part of the Carpathians along the Polish-Slovak border, are small yet striking, often likened to miniature Alps. Since the mid-19th century, they have become emblematic for Slovak and Polish national movements, retaining significant cultural importance today. Conversely, these conflicts also sparked trans-border cooperation projects that garnered international attention.
