Holly has a great life. She lives in a stylish apartment, has good friends and enjoys a creative job as a photographer. Everything is just - nice. But Holly wants more. She wants more than a mundane existence, meeting up with her friends to have empty conversations about everyday banalities, skimming the surface of what lies beyond the artifices of life. So, Holly plans a series of dinner parties. Her guests - eight members of a local book club, a melting pot of vibrant intellects with whom she can spark exciting philosophical debates and so ascend the vapid exchanges of her social circle. However, these debates take an unwarranted turn; like in a murder mystery novel, Holly ends up socially annihilating her guests and questioning how free we really are to diverge from the socially accepted version of the truth.
