Sara Anderson loves her job as charge nurse at Chicago General Hospital, but she has an unexpected visitor, a tall, husky lawyer who informs her that she has inherited a bar in Bar Harbor from her grandfather. She isn't interested in running a bar as she is happy in her job, but she is told that there is a long-time man in charge of everything, Roy Larsen, who lives on the property. She therefore has the option of selling the bar or living on it and making a good living off the business. Sara doesn't know the first thing about running a bar but decides that she needs to visit it to manage her affairs and help her decide.
