Examining industrial management reforms in Eastern Europe during the 1960s, this study contrasts the experiences of the German Democratic Republic, Hungary, and Yugoslavia with Romania, which saw little reform. The author delves into coordination methods used in the early 1970s, drawing from eleven months of interviews with middle and upper managers, as well as officials from various sectors. This extensive research provides fresh insights into enterprise management practices across these socialist countries.
