William Matthew Flinders Petrie, commonly known as Flinders Petrie, was a well-known English Egyptologist and a pioneer of systematic methodology in archaeology and preservation of artefacts. He was a member of the Fellows of the Royal Society due to having made a substantial contribution to the improvement of natural knowledge.
