Focusing on the interplay between personal and narrative identity, this research explores the historical and fictional narratives within Latin American bildungsroman. It examines key works such as El Chulla Romero and Flores, El juguete rabioso, and Reinaldo Solar, emphasizing the relationships among time, author, narrator, and characters. Drawing on Paul Ricoeur's narrative thesis, the study argues that selfhood and ipseity together shape narrative identity, highlighting how the progression of stories creates a cohesive meaning that reflects personal identity over time.
