This book explores the evolution of Jewish messianism, highlighting the early studies by Wissenschaft des Judentums scholars like Heinrich Graetz, who aimed to present Judaism as rational. Gershom Scholem later reestablished mysticism and messianism as central to Jewish thought, emphasizing their unique development independent of other cultures.
