Atop Wayside Mountain, Crystal McCallum lives in lonely isolation, bound by a mysterious condition her parents are desperate to keep a secret even from their own family. Crystal longs for companionship, self-acceptance, and to be a normal kid, the very things that have eluded her for so long. Shortly after Crystal turns fourteen, she meets a group of kind-hearted hippies who stand by her through thick and thin.
