Michael learns that mermaids live not only in the ocean but also in lakes and rivers. He also learns their biggest secret: Mermaids can fly. When their adventure comes to an end, Michael is sad because he wants to stay with SparkleLeah. But he realizes that he belongs on land with his family. While Michael and SparkleLeah remain lifelong friends, they stay true to who they are.
