During the 1930s, In the midst of the Great Depression, Fremont Pope, a hardworking mechanic, promises to take care of his wife, Sibyl. He believes the best way to do this is to move his young family away from Shawnee, Oklahoma, where Sibyl can be free from the stress of her quarreling parents and siblings. In new surroundings, she can also follow her passion to freely share her faith. Sibyl Trimble Pope would like nothing better than to escape the drama of her dysfunctional family.
