Lewis Morgan Boeken

Lewis Henry Morgan was een baanbrekende Amerikaanse antropoloog en sociaal theoreticus, erkend als een van de meest vooraanstaande sociaal wetenschappers van de negentiende eeuw in de Verenigde Staten. Hij is vooral bekend om zijn werk over kinship en sociale structuur, zijn theorieën over sociale evolutie en zijn etnografie van de Irokezen. Vanwege zijn studie van kinship was Morgan een vroege voorstander van de theorie dat de inheemse volkeren van Amerika in de oudheid uit Azië waren gemigreerd. Zijn sociale theorieën beïnvloedden latere linkse theoretici en hij is de enige Amerikaanse sociaal theoreticus die wordt geciteerd door Charles Darwin, Karl Marx en Sigmund Freud.
