It's a novel that can be best described as a fantasy and love story woven around colonial American history and the twenty-first century. The main character, Jim Arnot, is a computer programmer who works for a company in the state of Maine. After running into some health issues, he decides to take a vacation to Salem, Massachusetts. There, he has an unexpected heart attack and he dreams that he travels back in time to the Salem witch trials of 1692. Shortly thereafter, he realizes Leila was nothing more than the spectra of his imagination, so he turns his attention to Dee Ann Nicewell, the nurse who saves his life. Anyway, as fate would have it, after being smitten by her absolutely stunning beauty, he lives one of the most memorable years of his life until tragedy strikes. An automobile accident takes her life, and when that happens, Jim turns to her sister, Sarah, for support in his time of grief. From there, a deep, everlasting bond is made between them, and that paves the way for a brand new chapter in his life.

It's a novel that can best be described as an adventure in life between the main character of the story, Maude Derringer and a couple of men who use her. She struggles with drug addiction for a while but quickly overcomes that obstacle and falls in love with a man that changes her life forever. Anyway, when that happens, after a couple of very interesting twists to the story, she marries Ricky Vestellini. A handsome young man with Italian heritage and they move to France to begin a new life for themselves on the French Riviera. Unfortunately, their marriage doesn't last very long because Maude makes the heartbreaking discovery, he's having an affair with another woman. Needless to say, a divorce follows, she takes her children and goes back to the United States. There, she meets up with an old friend, Ken Stackford, they rekindle their friendship, proceed to get married however the marriage lasts all of three months. What happens next, would make even the strongest of hearts cringe in fear as Maude extracts revenge on both men for ruining her life. In the end, she lives happily ever after however the happiness she attains doesn't come without a price though.
