V dalších esejích se Ortega y Gasset vyjadřuje k pozdnímu Heideggerovi, s nímž se setkal na kolokviu v Darmstadtu, k filosofickému stylu, k architektuře či k teoretickým problémům fyziky. Přeložil M. Meditace o Quijotovi jsou torzem rozsáhlejšího edičního projektu, ve kterém Ortega zamýšlel podrobit zevrubnějšímu zkoumání příznačné projevy španělského života a kultury a pomocí jejich kritické interpretace vytěžit hodnoty, na nichž by bylo možné založit reálnou budoucnost tohoto národa žijícího v zajetí falešných představ o sobě samém. S tím souvisí rozdílné zaměření trojice esejů, z nichž první dva přesahují rámec tématu naznačeného titulem knihy.
