User-driven customization (UDC) enables customers to create a product according to their individual demands within a theoretically infinite solution space. The efficient safety method kit contributes to solve the resulting challenge of ensuring product safety. It supports the safety analysis of UDC products to reduce the time and resources needed to analyze each resulting individual product. This includes the balancing of safety constraints and UDC options prior to customization as well as the improved efficiency of the safety analysis after customization.

In response to climate change and limited fossil fuels, renewable energy is being heavily promoted throughout Europe. Despite general support for green energy, perceived landscape change and loss of landscape quality have featured heavily in opposition campaigns. The COST Action „Renewable Energy and Landscape Quality“ (RELY) systematically investigated the nexus between renewable energy production and landscape quality. Its aim was to analyze how landscape protection and renewable energy deployment can be reconciled to contribute to the sustainable transformation of energy systems. This book compiles guidelines for assessing landscape suitability for, and vulnerability to, renewable energy projects together with a toolbox for landscape-aware public participation in planning. Nowadays, people are increasingly dependent upon software-controlled systems. In the case of safety-critical systems, it is necessary to ensure their safety via appropriate analysis methods. However, the established methods (fault trees, Markov-models, ...) have some crucial disadvantages when it comes to dynamic failure behavior. To address this problem, this thesis extends the range of analysis technique for state event fault trees (SEFTs) by qualitative ones.
