This book examines the evolution of North-South relations by tracing the change in perceptions and interests of developing countries with regard to the international economic system. The study provides a unique look at divergent viewpoints among these countries, while challenging the common assumption that a politically unified Third World is still working towards a restructuring of the liberal post-World-War-II economic system. Fundamental changes in how these countries perceive the world and the working of the international economy have created a situation that may hold opportunities for greatly improved North-South relations, given that industrialized countries take decisive initiatives on a number of crucial issues, particularly on Third World debt.
