This work explores the interplay between media theory and practice, focusing on the methods of securing evaluations in press and television. It presents a typology and semiotic distribution of both media-neutral and media-specific procedures. The transition from press releases to press texts is examined, highlighting how information flow influences evaluation. The relationship between text function and thematic orientation is analyzed through the lens of newspaper commentary. Various persuasive strategies are discussed, including the use of seemingly fallacious arguments and the emotional aspects of argumentation. The search for evaluation in newspaper comments is also addressed, alongside the evolution of persuasive strategies and text structures in East German press commentary during the 'Wende.' Literary newspaper reviews are scrutinized for their evaluative content. Historical analyses delve into reasoning and school rhetoric in public discourse, particularly in the context of newspaper language before the 1848 March Revolution. The study also investigates political key terms used persuasively, as well as the presentation of journalistic commentary in a Nazi-occupied newspaper. An intercultural comparison highlights implicit evaluations in Finnish and German editorials, enriching the understanding of persuasive communication across cultures.
