Meer over het boek
Since the publication of the first book in 1989, interest in reliable methods for diagnosing faults in complex systems has surged. The initial book sold over 1,200 copies and established itself as a key text in the field. This new work builds on that success by highlighting recent advances, introducing novel research concepts, and exploring new application topics. While it cannot cover all recent developments in fault diagnosis for dynamic systems, it addresses several major issues. The collaboration of global experts from industry, government, and academia has been invaluable in crafting the individual chapters. In many cases, dynamical systems have numerical models available in state space or frequency domain formats. When such models exist, a quantitative model-based approach to fault diagnosis can be employed, using the mathematical model to generate analytically redundant alternatives to measured signals. This approach necessitates an understanding of the limitations of the mathematical models, particularly regarding model parameter variations and the effects of changing the system's point of operation.
