This volume is dedicated to our teacher and friend Hans Triebel, featuring lectures from the International Conference "Function Spaces, Differential Operators and Nonlinear Analysis" (FSDONA-01) held in Teistungen, Germany, from June 28 to July 4, 2001, in celebration of his 65th birthday. This event marked the fifth meeting in a series aimed at fostering collaboration among specialists from Finland, the Czech Republic, and Germany. It was particularly significant as it acknowledged Hans Triebel's profound influence on mathematical analysis. His contributions have shaped the modern theory of function spaces over the past 30 years, impacting both pure and applied mathematics. Through a series of systematic treatments in his books, Triebel has explored function spaces from various perspectives, highlighting their connections to interpolation theory, harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, nonlinear operators, entropy, spectral theory, and analysis on fractals. The collection of papers presented serves as a tribute to his distinguished work. The book is organized into three parts, with Part I featuring invited lectures by O. V. Besov and D. E. Edmunds, which honor Triebel's contributions and provide a survey of his impact in the field.
