Taxonomic Revision of the Neotropical Tiger Beetle Genera of the Subtribe Odontocheilina, vol. 1

The first part of the complete taxonomic and nomenclatorial revision of the 15 Neotropical genera of the beetle subtribe Odontocheilina W. Horn, 1899 sensu Moravec (2012a) is presented as Volume 1. This revision is based on an extensive examination of relevant type specimens and over seven thousand additional specimens. It recognizes 87 species across three genera: Odontocheila Laporte de Castelnau, 1834 (78 species, 1 subspecies), Cenothyla Rivalier, 1969 (7 species), and Phyllodroma Lacordaire, 1842 (2 species). The infrageneric arrangement of Odontocheila is reassessed, expanding Rivalier's (1969) five species-groups into nine based on improved diagnostic characters and a greater number of species. Keys to species and species-groups of Odontocheila are included, along with a preliminary key to all genera in the Odontocheilina subtribe, which will be further detailed in Volume 2. This volume will address the elevation of previously recognized subgenera of Pentacomia Bates, 1872 to separate genera. The introduction covers material and methods, biology, distribution, phylogeny, and developmental stages, along with diagnostic characters and variability. The taxonomic section provides redescriptions, differential diagnoses, and keys to species, including lectotype designations and a neotype for one species. Each species is illustrated with color photographs, detailing distribution, biology, and adult behavior, complemented by
