Functional imaging and modeling of the heart

The 1st and 2nd International Conferences on Functional Imaging and Modelling of the Heart (FIMH) took place in Helsinki, Finland, in November 2001, and in Lyon, France, in June 2003. These events emerged from a successful scientific collaboration between France and Finland, expanding to include various groups and establishing a biennial tradition. FIMH aimed to unite researchers from diverse yet often isolated fields such as cardiac imaging, signal and image processing, applied mathematics, biomedical engineering, computer science, cardiology, radiology, biology, and physiology. The initial editions garnered enthusiastic participation from experts across these disciplines. While FIMH began as a European initiative, it has increasingly attracted attendees from the US and Asia. The latest edition saw the highest number of submissions to date, with 47 papers accepted for oral presentations or posters, reflecting a growing interest from non-EU institutions. Each paper underwent a thorough review process by up to four reviewers. The accepted contributions were organized into eight oral sessions and three poster sessions, along with several invited talks. This year, efforts were made to maximize oral presentations to encourage active participation and foster multidisciplinary discussions.
