Meer over het boek
Between 1997 and 2001, approximately 3,500 m² of a Bronze Age, Latène, and Roman settlement at Ganglegg hill near Bolzano were excavated by the author and H. Steiner. The analysis of plant remains, animal bones, metal, and pottery finds enriches the evidence. This study is organized into five sections: the first establishes a chronological system; the second discusses Iron Age finds and features at Ganglegg, including well-preserved stone buildings and terraces; the third examines settlement development and processes within the Fritzens-Sanzeno Culture; the fourth explores significant religious and cultural influences; and the fifth addresses the Roman period at Ganglegg. Extensive research on the Latène Period in South and North Tyrol and Trentino, combined with the Ganglegg excavations, yielded numerous new insights and patterns regarding the chronology of the Fritzens-Sanzeno Culture. These findings do not align with established chronological systems, leading to their exclusion from official publications. Therefore, their presentation in this series is particularly important, highlighting the value of these new discoveries.
