Jobs and organizations are evolving rapidly, leading to increased demands, job insecurity, and heightened stress. While these challenges affect all economic sectors, the human service industry faces unique issues. This book highlights not only the negative consequences of organizational change but also the potential for learning, growth, and development that these changes can bring. Since 1985, the European Network of Organizational Psychologists (ENOP) has hosted conferences on health care, with the IX conference held in Dresden in October 2005. Traditionally, these conferences focused on job stress and mental health, but a shift towards a positive perspective emerged in the 21st century, emphasizing resources and well-being over stress. The Dresden conference centered on "Psychological Resources in Human Service Work," featuring 15 contributions from authors across 9 countries in Europe and Canada. The volume is organized into three sections: the first addresses work conditions and organizational changes in human service roles, particularly for nurses and teachers; the second explores organizational and emotional stress factors alongside well-being; and the final section discusses knowledge work in health care and competence training.
