The training of thinking skills is growing more and more in importance. PISA has shown that many of our students do not know how to solve problems or how to state reasons for their opinions. This book is the first one to discuss the various factors that led to this sudden boom of interest in thinking skills and also the first to provide a detailed outline of the movement that started around 1900 with John Dewey.
