Meer over het boek
Despite the tremendous progress made in coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, not all patients profit equally from it. The mortality rate of women still exceeds that of men by a factor of two. In the majority of clinical studies on this issue, adjustment for clinical risk factors seemed to diminish the difference, but could not fully explain it. By describing the gender-specific influence of psychological and clinical variables on the recovery process, this work fills an important gap in cardiovascular research. Its approach is interdisciplinary in the best sense. Thus it may be seen as a basis for a better understanding and the treatment of CABG patients. The book is addressed not only to psychologists, but also to medical students, cardiologists, or general physicians, who are interested in the upcoming field of Medical Psychology.
