The series „Studies in Computational Intelligence“ (SCI) publishes significant advancements in computational intelligence across various fields, including engineering, computer science, physics, and life sciences. It encompasses the theory, applications, and design methods of computational intelligence, featuring monographs, lecture notes, and edited volumes. Topics covered include neural networks, genetic algorithms, evolutionary computation, artificial intelligence, cellular automata, self-organizing systems, soft computing, fuzzy systems, and hybrid intelligent systems. The series is characterized by a short publication time and global distribution, facilitating rapid dissemination of research findings. The 10th IEEE/ACIS International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS 2011) took place from May 16-18, 2011, in Sanya, Hainan Island, China. It aimed to unite scientists, engineers, computer users, and students to share experiences, exchange ideas, and discuss various aspects of computer and information science, including theory, applications, and tools. Participants addressed practical challenges and the solutions implemented. From the conference, the organizers selected the best 20 papers based on review scores from the program committee, which underwent additional rigorous review before publication in this volume.
