This book examines migration trends from Bulgaria to Switzerland since Bulgaria's EU accession in 2007, offering insights into transnational migration within a broader European context. The Bulgarian community in Switzerland is relatively small and dispersed, originating from diverse regions with varying socio-economic profiles. The text highlights significant regional disparities in Switzerland, providing various contexts for understanding the causes and consequences of this migration. The first section analyzes the demographics of migrants and their motivations, considering economic differences and educational backgrounds in Bulgaria. The subsequent part explores migratory movements and transnational practices involving Switzerland, Bulgaria, and other destinations for Bulgarian immigrants, addressing the socio-economic shifts and their impacts at individual, household, community, and national levels.
