The Age of Innocence

Set in upper-class New York, the story follows Newland Archer, who is engaged to the ideal May Welland. However, the arrival of May's cousin, Ellen Olenska, disrupts his life. As Newland attempts to assist Ellen in regaining her place in society after a failed marriage, he becomes increasingly drawn to her. This internal conflict pits his desire for societal acceptance against his burgeoning love for the unconventional Countess, exploring themes of passion, societal expectations, and the constraints of tradition.
