Traveling across India, he visited numerous holy sites, attended major festivals like the Kumbha Mela, and photographed thousands of Sadhus, forming bonds with many as he entered their inner circles. Through more than 100 vivid photographs, he captures their deep devotion to spirituality, illustrated by meditation, yoga, penance, and austerities—sometimes extreme, such as prolonged silence or bodily mortification. The author also delves into the diverse beliefs and practices of various Sadhu sects, including the “sky-clad” Naga Babas, tracing their historical and mythological roots that have shaped Hinduism. He reveals the mystical beauty of those committed to asceticism in their quest for knowledge and liberation from earthly ties.
