This book is the first single-volume comprehensive study of the political system of every country in the world with supportying information on political groupings, classifications and voting systems. The book is divided into three major sections. Part 1 makes a comparative assessment of political systems of government and ideologies throughout the contemporary world. Part II is the largest section, giving the politcal profiles of all the nation states of the world. Information on each country covers up-to-date social and economic data (including ethnic, religious and political features), political history, current political system in operation and biographical details of major political figures since the war. Part III is devoted to colonies dependencies and semi-sovereign states plus an examination of the world's political and defence associations and groupings. All the material is supported with a wealth of maps, tables and data sources.
