In 1950s Manhattan, a young Rockette named Marion Brooks grapples with the expectations of her life. At nineteen, she is on the verge of a conventional future with her college sweetheart, who is about to propose. However, feeling trapped, Marion seizes the chance to audition for the prestigious Radio City Rockettes, longing for a life filled with excitement and performance. Simultaneously, New York City is gripped by fear as a series of bombings, attributed to the elusive "Big Apple Bomber," terrorizes its citizens. The police, desperate for leads after years of investigation, turn to Peter Griggs, a young doctor at a mental hospital who advocates for a groundbreaking psychological profiling technique. As Marion and Peter become entwined in the hunt for the bomber, Marion realizes that to make a difference, she must break free from her training to blend in with the Rockettes.
