Set in the late 19th century, the narrative follows Lord Arthur Savile, who learns from a chiromantist that he is destined to commit murder before marrying. His initial target is his aunt, whom he attempts to poison, only to find she dies of natural causes. Undeterred, he tries again with a bomb meant for a distant relative, but it fails comically. Ultimately, in a twist of fate, he kills the chiromantist instead, leading to his marriage. The story explores themes of fate versus free will and the absurdity of societal expectations.
