Nora Kinney, once a typical housewife, feels compelled to contribute more as her doctor husband serves in North Africa. At the Boeing B-17 plant, she learns to operate a riveting gun, embodying the spirit of “Rosie the Riveter.” However, not everyone welcomes women in the workforce, and Nora grapples with feelings of neglect toward her withdrawn teenage son. Amidst her struggles, a chilling tragedy unfolds when one of Nora's coworkers is discovered strangled in her apartment, dressed in an apron with a lipstick smile smeared on her face. This marks the start of a horrifying pattern, as female war-plant workers are murdered throughout Seattle in a similar ritualistic manner.
