Born - or in Albert's case - hatched at the same time, hemispheres apart, Sylvie and her albatross friend find their lives curiously entwined. When Sylvie's fairy tale existence is shattered by tragedy, she is left with Albert as her only source of comfort. Sent to the Nunnery - she relies on him, as well as on her literature-fueled imagination, to navigate an often-unfriendly world. New girl Michaela offers hope but Fate - a person of dubious intent - upsets the delicate balance. As life spirals downwards, Sylvie tucks Albert into the back of her mind until a magazine article describing him comes into her possession. Galvanized into action, Sylvie finds new hope and sets off to meet her elusive friend.
