Elephant creatures, virtual sculptures, and other entanglements are at the essence of this series of charcoal and watercolour drawings by Zuni Halpern. Lurking in the surreal mix of snaking lines, bold shapes, and stretched bodies are phantasmagorical but recognisably elephant-type things. But also female human things. And geometric things, puzzlingly interlocked. And many, many scribbles and twists. Halpern is an artist and graphic designer, and forms half of the Zurich-based design studio Halpern & Halpern. Nora Halpern, the other half, designed the cover.
