Chalcone, an exceptional chemical entity of two aromatic or heteroaryl rings joined by a three carbon α, β-unsaturated carbonyl system, representing a class of flavanoids. Chalcone comprises a keto-ethylenic group and here upon reactive towards a number of reagents yielding a variety of heterocyclic compounds demonstrating remarkable biological activities.
