Epictetus, despite his origins as a slave and a physical disability, emphasized the power of individual freedom and harmony with nature. He believed that happiness comes from accepting reality as it is. After gaining his freedom, he dedicated his life to teaching philosophy and encouraging self-reflection. His pupil Arrianus compiled his teachings into the Enchiridion, a practical guide filled with advice for achieving tranquility and contentment, catering to both beginners and those further along their journey.
