Growing up in the North of England in the 1930's, Jimmy Evans and his best friend Stan share a burning ambition to play football for England. After years of hard work, and against all odds, it seems like their dream might come true. they are tipped for a call up to the national squad. However, a terrible new war is brewing. When Jimmy and Stan are finally asked to represent their country, it will be in the skies of Europe rather than on a football pitch.
