It has been 25 years since Holmes and Watson hunted Barlucci. They only quit when they knew he'd been buried under a mountain of ice and snow. But a series of incidents have caused Holmes to abandon his retirement and resume the hunt. Bodies are washing up along the coasts of Nova Scotia and Maine, one, completely drained of blood. Then a "ghost" ship formerly owned by Barlucci, grounded near Manhattan, its captain dead at the helm. When Holmes approaches his old friend to ask his help, Dr. Watson is concerned about his old colleague's health. Is Holmes seeing connections where none exist?
