Arms and the Man

Set against the backdrop of the 1885 Serbo-Bulgarian War, the story follows Raina Petkoff, a young Bulgarian engaged to war hero Sergius Saranoff. Her life takes an unexpected turn when Swiss mercenary Captain Bluntschli enters her room after the Battle of Slivnitza, threatening her with a gun. This encounter challenges Raina's ideals and perceptions of heroism, leading her to confront the complexities of love and loyalty amidst the chaos of war.
