A crook who drives stolen luxury cars abroad and brings back drugs decides to blackmail Tim Hawkridge, the son of a retired general, the squire of Tolbrite, about an alleged affair when he was serving in the BAOR in Germany. At the time Tim is engaged in discussions with the Sheikh of Qatar concerning the possible installation and management of a commercial radio station in the Emirate. His bank provides an interpreter, a girl, Helene, and romance gently blossoms. The crook is double-crossing the big drug baron and his own wife who is an exotic dancer in a night club. The crook's body is found in the Manor House Park and the inspector suspects Timmy. Forged dollar bills in the dead man's wallet bring in a US Treasury agent.
