Lack of motivation and giving up too easily when challenged impede children's learning and social interactions. Geared for young children (ages 4-8), "Kimmy Can't" targets children's negative self-talk, not trying, and giving up. A teacher helps Kimmy think about what she is able to do rather than what she can't do. The teacher encourages Kimmy to keep trying rather than saying "Kimmy can't." The book ends with Kimmy's positive self-talk as she takes on challenging tasks, she declares, "Kimmy can."
