Set in Scotland during 1314, the story follows Alasdair MacAuley, who seeks to celebrate the Scots' victory in reclaiming Edinburgh Castle. His festivities take a turn when an old woman reveals that the castle belongs to the legendary witch Morgaine le Fee. Challenged by his fellow warriors, Alasdair ventures to meet the witch, only to find himself unexpectedly transported to another century, plunging him into a world of magic and adventure.
