The book offers a comparative analysis of the political ideologies of three influential French counterrevolutionary figures from 1885 to 1914: Maurice Barres, a nationalistic conservative; Charles Maurras, a classic reactionary; and Georges Sorel, a moralist and syndicalist. Despite their differing views on political order, all three opposed liberal democracy and the principles of the Third Republic.
