Block Captain's Daughter

Set against the backdrop of southeast Albuquerque, the story follows Guadalupe Anaya, a pregnant waitress and newly elected block captain. Tasked with enhancing neighborhood safety, she embraces the motto "God helps those who help themselves." As she prepares for motherhood, Lupe pens heartfelt letters to her unborn daughter, Destiny, nurturing her dream that Destiny will become a writer, choosing a path of creativity over traditional labor. The narrative explores themes of hope, aspiration, and community empowerment.
