Focusing on burial practices in provincial Roman Britain, this study examines archaeological evidence to reveal insights into social dynamics and status expression. It analyzes the distribution of burial sites, considering factors that influence visibility, including continuities from the Iron Age. By reviewing cremation rituals and case studies from south-east England, the research highlights the evolving nature of funerary rituals as a means of social assertion. Additionally, it assesses spatial relationships between the living and the dead, and the landscape's funerary displays.
