Multifunctional Gold Nanostars for Cancer Theranostics

The thesis explores the creation of theranostic gold nanostars (GNS) aimed at enhancing cancer imaging and therapy. It introduces an innovative dual treatment approach that merges immune-checkpoint inhibition with GNS-mediated photothermal nanotherapy. This method successfully eliminates primary tumors while also activating immune responses that target and treat distant, untreated tumors in a mouse model, showcasing its potential for comprehensive cancer treatment.
