Set in a mysterious world, the story follows Rab, who finds solace in a remote valley after a year of searching for companionship. His peace is shattered when hostile locals arrive, prompting a desperate escape downriver. Rab saves one of his pursuers, whom he names Eric, and they form a bond. However, just as they begin to communicate and settle into a new home, Eric vanishes, leaving Rab to face the harsh elements alone and rebuild his life once more.
