A whimsical adventure unfolds when ten-year-old Theo, after escaping a school trip, finds himself alone in London. His chance encounter with the enigmatic Alistair Goodfellow leads him to the Casablanca Lily, a seemingly shabby hotel that transforms into a realm of magic by night. Alistair introduces Theo to a group of misfit friends, the Moonlighters, who embark on quests for magical artifacts, granting them powers. However, as Theo becomes captivated by this new world, he discovers that the treasures they seek may hold perilous secrets.
